Oh, phew, I only sent this to Sue Babbs without cropping.

I agree. Merci beaucoup, Madame. Just got my copy, which I wasn't expecting, being a first-time
OIDFA attendee. I just had time to look through it, but I found it
fascinating. Especially since I've been wanting a flat lace cap as there is
on the front cover of the Thomas Lester book, and I immediately saw that a
couple of the patterns could be altered to look like that. The book gives
the history behind lappets, and the social aspects surrounding the lace.
Altogether worthwhile.

Lyn in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA, where it's hot, 80F 24C, sunny, and
we're in for a great Memorial Day Weekend. Brits evidently do the honoring
the war dead on November 11, but we Americans split the honors, honoring
Veterans on November 11 and harkening back to the Civil War, when, if I am
correct, this day was begun in the South to honor the Glorious Dead. First
big weekend of the summer

How can I direct my thanks for the beautiful book the German Folk costumes
group of OIDFA has gifted to its members ? What a lovely and clear depiction
of the lappets...and the patterns and instructions. The book is itself a
work of art.
