Arachnes have been quiet, so I am sending something special for those who
enjoy research.

For those of you with sophisticated tastes and unlimited funds, or simply
interested in fashions for inspiration - elaborate embroidery that could be
adapted to lace designs, for example:

I'm providing a little information about the June 26th Kerry Taylor
Auction "Passion for Fashion" in London. The show room has relocated and is

Lot 44 - For our men, is the Duke of Windsor's Lord of the Isles 1951 green
 tartan evening suit.

Lots 48-56 - Some will like the Cecil Beaton costume designs for "My Fair
Lady"

Lot 64 - 1650-70 gilded painted wooden shoes with lace effect piercings.
Out-of-this-world!

Lot 111 - *Jane Viking Swanson* please note: Tapelace gown C. 1900
(perhaps Mata Hari's). Be sure to click on photo for details of design!

Lot 122 - Madeleine Vionnet gown with Lesage-embroidered large teardrop
design. A teardrop in lace, maybe metallic lace, would be wonderful to make.
Would have to be worn by a slender woman. Click on photo for details of
design. Jeri's note: Vionette should be studied by today's "dressmakers"
(that is what she was called, though we would use the term "designer"). Her
work is original and can be adapted to today's fashions. From my library,
I recommend "Madeleine Vionnet" by Betty Kirke, If you need more details,
write to me. Jeri.
