Dear Mary, This reply is taking into account that you are located in Australia. I have written several Arachne book reviews of crochet publications by Barbara Ballantyne. She lives in your country, and has done very extensive research on the history of Irish crochet. In re-perusing her books, I found some delightful designs. To have done the extensive research she has, her personal library probably is quite extensive, and she could help you with names of current booklets or magazines that you could use. Suggest you reference _www.crochethistory.com_ (http://www.crochethistory.com) Those wishing to do small crochet items who live in Europe and in North America can find a number of magazines to satisfy the need to make a crochet motif for application to clothing. Irish Crochet is one practical way to introduce new people to lacemaking, they may then be inspired to do finer work, they may not. It would be good to see a booklet with practical applications - like a motif in heavier thread to sew on the pocket of jeans, a shirt. It may encourage more people to become involved.
