Blindness was very high with lace maker it diminished when they started
to have colored parchment to work with, before they worked white on
white with poor light and do not forget they worked 14 hours a day or
more, no break for tea just a little lunch, no looking up. Then for most
illness no cure, and malnutrition and and never enough to eat was the
rule for most. So yes lace-making helped them to become blind even if it
was not the only reason.
