Hello Antje

Your linen thread probably has sizing in it. Try a test before treating
doing anything with your scarf. Take a length from the spool and get it
quite wet in clear water, put the wet thread between two layers of a towel
and press the water out. Let it air dry and you should see a difference,
that the thread will not be as stiff.

For a linenscarf you might not want the design to be as flat as for a linen
mat, so avoid pressing until you've tried rinsing in clear water, blotting
the water out with a towel as for the thread Let the scarf dry in the air
and try it on! If you want a flat look, then dampen it again, and roll a
heavy smooth object such as a clean rolling pin or a glass jar over it. You
don't need to use heat. Once flattened like this, the flatness stays.

I hope this helps!
