This episode was shown on our local PBS station last weekend. I saw the crocheted granny squares when they were stitching them together into the blanket. I didn't notice them knitting the crochet though. Well spotted. Wonderful show for oldies who remember the era, but a bit frightening to the newly pregnant. One young friend stopped watching as she is halfway through her pregnancy and couldn't stand the gore.
Janice <yesterday watched the final 3 episodes of Call the Midwife (series 2). After they had been soooo accurate with all aspects of the 50s, I was amazed to see that when the elderly nun began "knitting" her squares for a blanket, it was crocheted squares which hung down from her knitting needles (which were well hidden by her hands). Later on when they were all sitting around sewing them together, the close up shot definitely revealed that they were all crocheted. Apart from that, a wonderful show, and another box of tissues bit the dust, David in Ballarat, AUS> Janice Blair Crystal Lake, 50 miles northwest of Chicago, Illinois, USA www.jblace.com http://www.lacemakersofillinois.org - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here.
