Thanks to all who have responded (and who have yet to?)

The young scholar is primarily interested in Buratto made on a woven base.
We had a few pieces out in the study room the other day, and it was very
interesting to see the range of technique. I might add that she is limiting
her study to colored pieces as that will allow her to learn things about the
 dying.

I think that I perceive her moving in the direction of studying the pieces
of Buratto that are colored, and that have stitching that goes beyond the
simple process of weaving in and out with a thread to make a woven
appearance. Some pieces have very diverse stitching resembling satin stitch
and
even the sort of stitching one might see in needlepoints -at least to my
untutored eye.

Has anyone tried this, or know of any treatment of it?
