There will be an all day symposium about Interwoven Globe on Friday, Oct. 4. http://www.metmuseum.org/events/programs/lectures-and-panels/symposia/interw oven-globe It is free and looks to be quite interesting. I am going. In regards to Arlene's question about entry number 80 in the catalogue. I did not see this piece at the exhibit, although I know it and love it. I actually did return to do a more leisurely examination of the exhibit, spending 3 1/2 hours there during which time I listened to every audio entry and read every label- they are different. I even watched the film on the making of Chintz. This was at least partially so that I could be an accurate reporter to the lace community. I think that the website is correct in its assertion that the piece is not on view. I don't think there is any way I could have missed it. Also my husband and daughter were there with me, all of us viewing at a different pace, and they would certainly have drawn my attention to it if they had seen it. However, the exhibit is extremely exciting and I found the discussions of the international trade in textiles opened up many questions for me as to what bearing this trade had on the lace trade.
