Dear Mary Carey,

This must be your fondest lace dream-come-true.

There is an artist in Australia from Melton, originally from Ballarat, who
makes the most wonderful Stumpwork (needle lace). This is the 1600-1700
embroidery technique that Susan Hottle suggested we look at yesterday on
http://thistle-threads.blogspot.com/

Back to the Australian artist, Alison Cole. Her Stumpwork birds were
featured on the cover of The Embroiderers' Guild of America's March 2014 issue
of "NeedleArts". Other contemporary Stumpwork is in her Gallery at
_www.alisoncoleembroidery.com.au_ (http://www.alisoncoleembroidery.com.au)

When looking through her Gallery, I came upon a child named Bek, and her
very lovely pillow. We are too quick to underestimate what children are
able to do, when motivated.
