Susan,
A few years ago I made a bolster pillow out of ethafoam. It worked beautifully. Start with an ethafoam pool noodle.make sure it's hollow. With a razor knife, cut a piece as long as you want the bolster to be. Home Depot sells rolls of ethafoam sheet underlayment.the brand is TrafficMaster and it's in the flooring department.100 square feet for about $25. The roll is about 4' wide. Without unrolling it, take a razor knife, and cut the roll of underlayment into pieces the same length as the pool noodle. Once the underlayment is cut, unroll the sections, and roll them around the pool noodle until the bolster is as big around as you would like it. I used pins at the very edges to hold it in place once it was wrapped. Next layer was a roll of felted wool.I bought a beat up wool coat for a few bucks at the thrift store.washed it in hot water and dried in a hot dryer to shrink it. Cover with a cotton cover. The bolster will be very light, so you'll need to weight it down to keep it from moving around. I put 3 rolls of quarters in the hollow center of the pool noodle. It worked beautifully. And I have change handy if I need it. ; ) I use one of those cheap plastic shoeboxes as a stand. I hope this makes sense.
