This year we are very lucky to have such an extraordinary line up of talented artists, designers and artisans working with handmade lace; this symposium really is a rare forum for dialogue about the future of the craft of lace making. Doily Free Zone 2016 will be held in Gandino which is also home to an extraordinary collection of early lace which will be open for study during the event. The symposium is open to all who are interested in new directions in lace making, those who wish to challenge the way they think about lace and to those who wish to protect and nurture lace making traditions into the future.
