Jeri's AOL account does not interface with Gmail. She just received an
announcement of an in-depth Exploration of Decorative Arts study program
which was colored graphics and photos (which Arachne cannot accommodate),
as follows:

September 30-October 11, 2019

"Collectors, appraisers, arts and antiques dealers, students and teachers!
Learn about decorative arts from Winterthur's world-renowned experts.

"Winterthur Museum is currently accepting applications for their Winterthur
Institute. This two-week course offers attendees access to curators,
conservators, and experts who will offer lectures and hands-on workshops on
American decorative arts and antiques. Course content centers on the
Winterthur collection, the world's largest assemblage of decorative arts
made or used in America between 1640 and 1860."

Jeri's comments: Over 50 years ago I attended a week-long course at
Winterthur that inspired me to begin my embroidery and lace library. If
you have read my Arachne memos, you have benefited from this resource.
Learning at a museum enhances knowledge. You will be able to mention the
experience in a resume. You will not have to pay a semester's tuition to a
university, which will cost much more and involve more time. Winterthur is
affiliated with the University of Delaware.

If you pursue this opportunity, please share your experience with us. You
can learn more or apply at http://www.Winterthur.org, or call 800-448-3883.

For Lace: Everyone introduces themselves to all the attendees. Whenever I
have given my name at such an event and said my primary interest and area
of expertise is Lace, there has been an audible buzz in the room. Please
think of this program as a way to promote Lace and develop new friendships
with people working in museums and historic homes across America.
Winterthur contains collections of household linens, including laces used
in homes. Area Lace Guilds sometimes demonstrate at Winterthur.

If you are lucky enough to meet Linda Eaton, please mention I recommended
this to you. She and the museum's current Director are women - setting new
examples of career opportunities to women. They hold the top two positions
at Winterthur!!!

If you have a child or grandchild to whom this information would be of
interest, please share above.
