Thank you for your wonderful report, Ilske.

There is a book available in Australia, self published by Marie Laurie, who
was one of the first westerners allowed into Hungary to study Halas lace.
The book is called "Hungarian Needlepoint Halas Lace, an Australian
Interpretation". Marie says in the introduction that the book does not use
the design patterns or type of threads from the Lace House at Kiskunhalas,
because she considers they belong to that special place, and the book is
Marie's interpretation of what she was taught "by the remarkable women
working in the Lace House".

The book is in 4 parts - Techniques, Decorative Stitches, Beginners' Sample
Projects, and Designs. It would be an ideal starting point for anyone
interested in Halas lace. I do not know if it was ever available for sale
overseas. I bought my copy here in Australia from a local mail order
supplier of lace equipment.
