"A friend who is a paramedic, and my mother who is an EMT, states that they always put the shoulder strap under their arm, as they have seen many people with slashed corrodid arteries from the seat belt. It is shared as hopefully helpful information."
I have done this before when driving a car not my own because I cannot bear the seat belt rubbing the side of my neck. Unfortunately very, very few cars have seat belts at the correct level for everyone, even if they are adjustable. In my own car I have a clip attached to the top of the seat belt to loosen it. One can also buy a sort of 'cushion' to tie around the seat belt so that it is more comfortable around the neck, but I can't stand that either - especially in the hot summer because my car is not airconditioned. But, my question is, is it legally acceptable to put the seat belt under the arm? ...I've often wondered. Karen in Malta No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
