The flower of British Convolvulus (also known as bindweed because of its tendency to strangle anything it winds itself round) is usually white or
very pale pink and grows wild. The large white form, in particular,
strangles any plant it encounters and will grow straight aong the ground
over quite large distances to find something to support it.

The Morning Glory flower is gorgeous shade of blue and is often grown as a
  climbing garden plant here.

The shapes are similar and they are part of a large family of plants with
  different coloured trumpets.

The talking about the Concolvulus or bindweed reminded me of two designs I made using this flower as a subject. The first one is an insertion for the front of a blouse and the other one was a project we did in one of my lacegroups. This project was about Japan and I made a part with the blue concolvulus, which we found mentioned in a book about Japan. The insertion is a Pointground, made in white cotton. The japan project was multi-color Blonde and made in silk.
I will soon make some photo's of both pieces and put them on my website.

Happy lacing
