Sorry for delay in responding - have been away for a few days, and had assumed
someone would have answered...!
The UK Lace Guild has about 4,000 members, and is national, and the largest one
here. Despite that, I am sure that there are at least 3 or 4 times that number
of makers in the UK. What with books and local groups, there is less need for
a maker to join the national group than is possibly the case where our craft is
a more recent introduction. I should suspect that countries such as the
Netherlands and France, as well as Central Europe and Scandinavia, have a
similar "problem" in estimating totals.
Hope the event goes well, even if man-free!
