I dunno.  I've lived in Colorado for the last 15 years where it's very dry
(down to 7 or 8% relative humidity in the summer and maybe in the 20%'s in
the winter - except on the days it snows) and I've only broken 1 bone bobbin
in all those years - and I think it was my fault and not because I dropped
it.

I brought my bobbins over from Australia where it can be very dry in the
summer too, and I didn't have problems there.

I'm not sure I'd blame brittleness totally on climate - there may have been
some unseen flaw in the bone to begin with.  Who knows.
