If the hankie is for "show" and one is doing the lace in silk thread, you can 
purchase "blanks" in various silk fabrications also.  I have painted silk and 
so am familiar with them, and they typically the wholesalers are in California. 
 Thomas Registry and of course Google would help as I don't have it at my 
fingertips.

Often they come in "scarf" sizes, but quite small ones are available also.  
They have hand rolled edges, ready for end-user, which may or may not work 
since I like finishing things myself and with lace sizes that mostly likely 
happens anyway as one doesn't want puckers and is attaching the lace 
regardless.  Good silk (often Japanese is best quality) isn't too hard to find, 
and there are wholesalers in NYC and Calif. if you have a tax ID number.

My father always had handkerchiefs when I was growing up, but my mother gave up 
as the quality had gone down so much, and also purchased Irish linen for 
herself, which is also difficult.  Perhaps a better source in the UK or Japan 
than in the States.
