My understanding of 'broadcloth' is a wide width woven fabric, originally wool. Not sure what the American definition is. The width of the fabric on the roll doesn't really matter so long as the piece you use is big enough for the purpose.

What does matter is that the fabric is a close, plain weave cotton. A bit heavier than sheeting or American 'muslin'. It needs to be strong so that you can pull it really tight and don't use a poly-cotton as the synthetic content will cause your pins to blunt. A plain dark colour such as navy or bottle green is usually considered most restful to the eyes and you don't need a patterend fabric which will distract you.

It has been suggested that I
use a heavy broadcloth and not velveteen for the pillow and roller. Is
broadcloth the best to use? What does everyone have on their pillows?
