Lace was passed on to me from Mum (Liz in Melbourne), and for her it was
passed on from her Grandmother. I think we've worked out that I'm about the
8th generation of lacemaker in her family. Many made lace professionally
(not sure which merchant in the Beds area they worked for), and my late
Great Grandmother also taught at the Beds Womens Institute (I believe).

Mum came back to lace in 1976 after a hiatus of a number of years, and
introduced me at that time. I've made lace ever since - not a lot at times,
but I make it, study it, collect it (when I can) and love it. Hoping to get
my daughter more involved in it.

Cheers,
Helen, Aussie in Denver
