I am not Liz, but I learned the following method of dating the Dillmont
books from this very list:
Opposite the title page in the front of the book, usually towards the
bottom of the page, you will find a 3 or 4-digit number. The one in mine
is 1009.
The first one or two digits are the month (10 = October).
The second two digits are the year (1900 + 09 = 1909).
In fact, I just looked in my saved emails and found an exchange on the list
between Liz and myself about this book, dating back to 2002! I can't find
the original email about dating the books, but I learned it from someone
here, who learned it at Black Cat Books.
