David,

If the pricking is lifting, it might also be something to do with how domed
your pillow is. I have a large pricking on a large circular pillow - it has
a flat top, so it isn't lifting. But I have a pricking for a length on my
roller, and yep, it wants to lift and drift (which I guess is better than
lifting and separating :-) ).

It might be a combination of factors.

Just my 2 cents worth.

My brass pins tarnished like Jay reported when I was still in Melbourne.
Never had that problem in the dry, high altitude climate of Colorado, but
now that I'm back to 350' above sea level, it will be interesting to see
what happens with my pins. So far with my current project, I have a box of
new Newey brass pins, and they're all pretty and sparkly, but a number have
come out of the box with no point. I've now gone past the Duh! moment when
the pin won't go into the pincushion or pillow because it's a flat/broken
end, and I check my pins as I lift them out of the box. Rather annoying.
