Hi Alice,

Is it the small clear sort of glue dot that scrapbookers and card makers
use? If it's that sort of glue dot, you might want to contact a local
scrapbooking store and see if they have a method for removing the dots from
items in the case of redoing a page or repurposing an item.

It seems like the experience that I've had with these sort of dots (bought
in a box in a scrapbooking store), was that they eventually dry out (well,
they do in Colorado, but so does everything there), and I've had some that
don't stick as well even here in the PNW. But I understand that you may not
be able to wait for it to dry out.

I know one of the problems with peeling lace off the dots is that if it has
stuck well, it might deform some of the threads and pull some (been there,
done that last week, when making up a scrapbook of my samples), so it takes
a lot of care and patience. Definitely not a job for the days of increasing
frustration :-)

I'm thinking goo-be-gone might be something that stains the lace as much as
removing the tacky substance :-(

I too was going to suggest freezing, to see if it will just pop off like
candle wax sometimes does.

How infuriating though to have your work stuck up with glue. I know I've
been less than complimentary on one occasional about the Royal Melbourne
Show people displaying a piece of my lace (they used a massive 'pin' to
display my lace - right through a tally!), so you have my sympathies.

Hope this helps, and good luck with the sticky removal.

Cheers,
Helen, Duvall, WA
