Hell everybody, sorry, I am a bit behind with my mails. I remember that a long time ago (5 June 2002) Helene Gannac sent us a long report about this subject. She was a member of our list at that time but I don't know if she still is although I am in personal contact with her. Helene if so I think you agree that I point out your long mail about white wedding dresses. It was about an exhibition in the National Gallery in Melbourne. Perhaps we could find it in our archive. Here in the north of Germany white wedding dresses didn't become "in fashion" before the beginning of 20th century. Before the groom wore its best suit and the bride her best dress, the same things they wore for church. Or, what we name Tracht in German. Those were often very splendid and in each region, sometimes in each village differently.
