Well, now, looking at the photos of the pillow on the link posted here, I
reckon that's the type of pillow I saw in an antique shop one year way back
when (ie, last century) in Castlemaine, which is a rural country town (city
now?) outside Melbourne, Victoria. I think it was in the same shop that had
some lovely porcelain figurines and some fabulous quilts (going at fabulous
prices).

Fortunately, I took photos of it. Unfortunately, they pre-date the digital
era, so are 'real' photos. They're also buried in a folder in a tub in the
basement, so not easy to dig out and scan, share, and study.

>From memory, it was kind of a dusty, forlorn little green pillow, and the
bobbins were still attached to the lace, but in an awful mess. It
desperately needed a kind hand to untangle the mess and spruce it up. I
forget how much they were asking for it.

It certainly doesn't look to be the most efficient of pillows, and I would
think might cause some frustration.

I have a notion, that there was an article published in an old issue of
Australian Lace about the Torchon Lace company. Can't get to my db to look
up the issue, but I think it was from the late 80's. If anyone is
interested, email me off list and I will go spend a day thumbing through my
copies of ALG to locate it (or prove myself wrong). I don't remember if it
refers to the Sydney office of the company, but I think it does talk about
the Melbourne office, on lovely Collins Street.
