I went to the link mentioned below, and found that the second sentence described Vermeer's lacemaker as "The work shows a young woman dressed in a yellow shawl bent in concentration as she sews the threads of a dress she is making." Argh. I edited it to at least indicate that she is making bobbin lace, but tried to avoid a whole dissertation in one sentence on how bobbin lace is made. That was hard! If more experienced wordsmiths on this list can think of more graceful ways to say succinctly what the young woman is doing, please edit it as appropriate. Nancy Connecticut, USA
