I am pleased I waited and read the emails. I didn't make any of the mistakes that way which is good. I just took it into the bathroom and run a little cold water on it, scratched gently with my nail which removed most of it and then put a big splodge of my normal washing liquid, neat, onto it, rubbed in and it looks clean to me. I have left it sitting like that for a little while but will rinse it off in a few minutes. I think that will bring it back to clean again, so thank you all for you ideas and warnings.

If it hasn't been washed yet, wash in cold water and let air dry. A little
squirt of something like spray and wash may help (esp. if it's a synthetic
of some kind) or if you have some bar laundry soap like Sard's Wonder soap,
a little of that may help too.

I know washing in cold water is the trick. Hot and heat sets the stain.

Hope this helps,
