Subject: [lace] A bird of a different feather!

Again I would like to caution all about leaving colored thread ends
for birds to use in their nests. I am a retired Wildlife
Rehabilitator (among other things) and this subject arises every
year. If you want to do do this please leave out only natural colored
threads. Bright colored thread attracts predators!
Thanks,
April in sunny Shoreline Washington

April, someone told me that man-made materials such as string, thread, and
dryer lint do not dry quickly after a rain and the nest remains wet and cold,
which is not good for eggs or newly hatched babies. Do you agree? Mother
Nature has the best materials.

After hearing this I ran to my backyard and spent a great deal of time
removing the above-mentioned materials from where I had placed them in the
trees. The neighbours must have wondered....
