Hi David and Friends, I think it comes down to both are acceptable, and it depends on the look a lacemaker wants.
I have noticed that Ulrike, and I think Cook and Stott, and maybe even Nottingham (don't quote me on those books though :-) ) all show 5T pin, work through bundle and passives, when bundling passives in a headside trail. I know Ulrike shows that. Little bit different situation, though. Not sure what Alex advocates for headside trails, and also when it comes to the bundling of passives.
