I do agree with you on that point. I'm modifying the installer right now 
so that it will check to see if a person has uploaded the laconica 
files, but if they haven't it will check to see if it is capable of 
download and decompressing the archive. If the account doesn't have the 
capability then it will give them a link to download the software with 
instructions to decompress and upload the files.

I figure it is a decent way to handle the two situations.
