You haven't resolved the problem to my satisfaction.
CLEARLY the problem is NOT with sending SET NAMES, since we have tens of
thousands of non-latin-script, UTF-8-encoded notices in Identi.ca. If
the problem was that the database wasn't speaking UTF-8 to us correctly,
NONE of them would work.
I've put some notes on ticket 941. I think we might be having problems
with RTL languages.
I'd like to know if we're having the same problem or similar problems
with notices in Persian posted from the Web; with notices in Persian
posted from XMPP; with notices in Persian posted through another API
client like Gwibber; and with notices in other non-Latin scripts posted
through choqoK.
