speaking for me I would like you to split your stuff into different branches. It‘s really difficult to review a merge inflicting so many very different changes. Moreover, you should not merge the upstream 0.7.x into your branches, because these merge commits clutter the commit timeline without any benefit. This only applies if the merging is done automatically. Simple merge requests should be handled within some days.
