I would like to have these too! Additionally one might want to also have possibility to subscribe to a certain account but only receive notification based on those two criteria, i.e. if the notice is near me or in a specific location.
Even more someone would like to filter notices based on certain keywords and location. The implementation part is also interesting question because these requirements are quite different from "the standard laconi.ca/microbloggingmodel". I've considered ways to do these without breaking the standard model too much. Regarding the proposal 1., my current approach is to send those notices as direct message to the subscriber. In order that this works for XMPP and SMS users, the current model where direct messages are not send right away to these clients needs to be changed. Definitely I would like to hear other opinions how do this kind if possible. The proposal 2 might require even more changes to the current model. Not sure, though.
