Hello, I first tried to create a ticket for my wish, but it seems I can't even with an account. So, here I put a case:
Alice has released a picture under the CC-by license (eg. on Flickr), Bob has an account on a laconica server (eg. mozillaca). He want to use that picture for his avatar, but he can't comply with the attribution condition: he can't clearly and publicly associate Alice and the initial picture (eg. with an URL) with his avatar. That limitation becomes a paradox with identica: identica contents are under CC-by, but Bob can't use a CC-by picture for his avatar... and it's not so easy to make his own avatar or to find a picture (of what we want) from the public domain.
