Adrian, Thanks for the note. The problem seems to be that we can't get past the login screen even by putting in proper credentials. Once we enter a valid username and password the screen simply returns to the login page again. Curiously, if you check the box marked Remember Me you can log in, and get to the home page but again, if you try to get to the Account page, you are sent to the login page and so on.
Curiously, we have found that reverting to PHP 5.2.10 from PHP 5.3 resolves the problem.
