I think the code would still go to fetch the URL to see if there's an HTTP "Redirect" response. I'll have to check that. Talking about modifying the UI: Things like OpenID login or a Privacy Policy page are mostly useless in an intranet setting as well. I wonder how many people would be interested in having such features configurable in config.php?
