would it be sufficient to configure some prefix for each server?

E.g. server1 has /export/home1 and server2 has /export/home2.

This would then result for /home/user in

server1: /export/home1/home/user

server2: /export/home2/home/user

It is important that the path on server ends with the user's homedir path.
