Interesting. ICONV was one of the reasons why I chose to stick with Hunspell for the French spelling checker. There were perhaps other reasons which I do not remember well. Maybe the BREAK Hunspell statement? I will try later when I have time to generate a FSA French dictionary again and see how well it goes compared to Hunspell. I don't have much free time so please be patient :-) I would ideally prefer to use FSA to benefit from the suggestions which are currently disabled in French because Hunspell is too slow.
