Please ignore my previous post - I was not thinking properly. I noticed than once you have successfully connected to a wireless network, NWAM will reconnect to it automagically in future. NWAM's list of known WiFi networks is held in /etc/nwam/known_wifi_nets and this can be edited by hand(although is marked as being 'volatile' - ie subject to change - in the nwamd man page).
