Hi minskey, My machine is 3rd gen Macbook Pro. I am having similar issues as Darren.
I can get sound out on snv_86 using external speakers but the volume is really low. I can't get any sound out from the internal speakers. When I was playing with OSS (v4.0-1014) I could get only audio out of audio-in port. It was a bit louder than what I am getting now using Solaris audiohd driver.
