I think we are almost there. I downloaded and installed the latest nvidia
drivers, no problem there, but when I looked in /etc/X11, there was no
xorg.conf, nor any xorg.conf.nvidia. So I ran the nvidia-xconfig to create a
xorg.conf, it now will no longer start X. It says it can not start the X server
on this display. Here is the Xerror file from /var/X11:

If i just move the xorg.conf file out of the way, it starts X, but the screen
is too big for the display again, same problem as before I loaded the new
drivers.

Any idea what the problem is?
Thanks again so much for all your help!
