When I'm running OS on my laptop, and I want to shut the system down, I usually revert back to console mode before I initiate a shutdown command.
If you've used shutdown on a console, you'll know that it warns you with a beep loud enough to make people think there's an Apple ][ somewhere in the room. I can't disable the speaker in my laptop BIOS, so I'm guessing that my only real solution is to create a new terminfo definition, and call it something like "sun-color-quiet". Anyone else having this problem, or put together a solution? This message posted from opensolaris.org
