Heh.  I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Intel's Wireless devices are
really tied to their motherboards BIOS in this regard -- possibly
relying on ACPI to control the RF switch.  Intel doesn't sell their
parts except as part of a "Centrino" bundle.

Most other devices (PRISM, Atheros, and Conexant WorldRadio/GT/Duette)
all use one of the pins (23? don't recall for sure) that is otherwise
"undefined" in the miniPCI spec for this purpose.

I expect an Atheros part would not suffer this problem. :-)
