Greetings, This message is to the Approachability community, and is being copied to the Networking and Laptop communities. Please address follow-up messages to approach-discuss rather than to me or either of the other two mailing lists.
On October 7 we announced the Network Auto-Magic project, and presented a set of story boards to describe the user experience. Then on November 29, we presented the Requirements which had been derived from these stories. We have since been working on the high-level architecture for this project, the first draft of which is now ready for publication: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/approachability/nwam/architecture/ As the page notes, it is still an incomplete draft, but as we are trying to practice Open Development here, we wanted to publish early enough for people to participate in development process, yet we wanted to make enough progress before publishing for people to be able to understand what we have in mind in terms of a solution. Feedback is encouraged on approach-discuss. Also, please note the version and date at the top of the document (their initial values are 0.1 and today) as we will be updating the document on a regular basis based on both community feedback and our own discussions. Also note that we will propose creating this as an official Project soon (we started this before OpenSolaris supported Projects), most likely with its own mailing list to facilitate such discussions. Look for this in the next week or so; once that mailing list is set up, we will likely migrate our discussions from both our old internal list and approach-discuss to the new project list. -- John
