I installed snv_37 today on my Acer Ferrari 4005 and found a problem with the sound driver.
After installing Solaris I installed the beta driver for the sound hw from OSS (version 152 and 155). Both installations failed with an error in the postinstall script: ## Executing postinstall script. Starting Open Sound System....please wait add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' osscore add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' -i '"pci1002,4370"' atiaudio ("pci1002,4370") already in use as a driver or alias. add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' -i '"pci1002,4370"' atiaudio Installing OSS (atiaudio) failed This did not happen with the previous releases of Solaris (last one I tested was snv_33) - so it looks like there are new or enhanced sound driver in snv37. But they did not work as expected - at least I did not manage to configure them correct for the Ferrari. Q: Where can I find documentation about the sound driver in Solaris ? After some searching and testing I installed the 1.9beta version of Juergen Keils audio driver (http://www.tools.de/solaris/audio/) and these drivers work with snv37. regards Bernd This message posted from opensolaris.org
