I noticed in the "Suspend to RAM" thread: http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=77034 that the Dell Precision M4300 worked well.
I've been looking for a high-end, 17 in. laptop, and decided to get the Dell Precision M6300 because it appears to be very similar to the M4300 that's reported to work. Good news: It works! * but required a little hacking to get the wired NIC going. Details: The NIC is a Broadcom 5756, which the bge driver in OpenSolaris does not yet support. However, the BCM 5756 appears to be very similar to the BCM 5755, so I tried some changes based on that assumption, and the result is a bge driver that works on this machine. See this thread for the code review: http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=81855 Note that I was also careful to order the machine with the Intel wifi option, which is an Intel 4965 WLAN (802.11a/g/n), which is already supported by OpenSolaris. This is a nice, high-end machine for development work, etc. Gordon -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
