Hey Folks,

I am trying to get OpenSolaris up and fully functional on my HP dv8000t before
I hopefully attend LISA in a couple of months from now. Currently I am running
snv_72. I am excited to have this up and running as I have dual drives,
DiskSuite mirroring some of my partitions and zfs mirroring a big chunk of the
120G disks. The interface looks wonderful and the extension of the tools from
the commercial branch of Solaris are logical and well thought out. But I have
not been able to get the wireless to work with WPA.

On this laptop I have two network options. I have the "Intel Corporation
PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection" that should be using the wpi driver
but is failing to plumb. Also I have a Cisco Aironet cardbus card that is
functional under the ath driver but fails to initiate wpa after a "dladm
connect-wifi".

One of the first steps that I have seen to get the 3954ABG running is to plumb
it. As root:
        bash-3.00# ifconfig wpi0 plumb
ifconfig: SIOCSLIFNAME for ip: wpi0: permission denied
The only information that I have been able to see about this was from
http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/laptop-discuss/2007-August/008464.html
where Brian Xu put some interesting workaround steps in the message to get it
functional on a HP dv5200. I don't seem to have pcitool and I am a bit confused
about the kmbd work.

Strangely while I was writing this I put my Aironet card in and I was able to
execute "dladm connect-wifi". But when I went to create the profile I get an
error saying that the parameter 'psk' is unrecognized. Is this something where
I should be using a different package from the snv_72 to get the psk
functionality? Also do I still need to add the package SUNWwupu? It seems that
a bit of the functionality is in dladm.
        bash-3.00# wificonfig createprofile home essid=domicile psk=passkey
        wificonfig: unrecognized parameter 'psk'

Attached is output from my 'prtconf -v' 'prtdiag -v' 'scanpci -v'.

Please let me know if you have any thoughts on this.
