thanks all, I install Solaris 10 8/07 now on my ThinkPad X40 2386 8EU. comparing with Solaris 10 11/06, my Linksys WPC54G ver 1.2 PCMCIA card can be recognized now. I reinstall ath driver v.5 binary for this new solaris release. Radio is still off for IBM 802.11 b/g miniPCI wireless card , -- at least the radio indicator is off. I really have no idea whether the radio is off or just the indicator light is off. My Access Point is just 2 feet far away, But cannot find it from: wificonfig -i ath0 scan. (3 weird APs returned) I download the source code of ndis wapper. following the online instructons with 2 Linksys driver CD files. I make ndis working now with WPC54G PCMCIA card. wificonfig -i bcmndis0 scan. I got my own AP and 3 of my neighbor's.
I know the hard-way solution that pulling pin 13 voltage low can trun Radio on of most mini PCI wireless card. (pin 11 controling indicator in most cases). I do not want to keep the wireless radio on even when I turn off the laptop.
