Actually ATI has made it very clear they will not open ANY of their drivers
(and can't actually due to various encumbrances), they're just releasing
specs and a very small amount of source (their BIOS table parser) so the
open source community can create drivers.
The current experimental Xorg driver based on their spec release does build
on Solaris, but so far, no one who has tried the build I made available
internally has reported it working for their hardware. (I'll try to get it
posted to the opensolaris xwin community soon for the terminally curious.)
