Additional info:

Pressing the power button at the login screen just shows this in dmesg:
Jul 3 18:27:13 asagao-jkk sys-suspend: [ID 221072 daemon.notice] System is
being shut down.
Other than that, nada.
The only way to shut the system down right now is using: shutdown -i5 -g0
